Maier Allende, Jorge

Jorge Maier Allende, who holds a doctorate in Pre-history and Archaeology, is a specialist in the historiography and history of archaeology and art in Spain and Europe (eighteenth–twentieth centuries), an area in which he has published many monographs, articles, and research projects and has lectured extensively. He is curator at the Cabinet of Drawings at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernanco. Previously he had carried out his research and curatorial activities at the Cabinet of Antiquities of the Real Academia de la Historia and is secretary of the series Bibliotheca Archaeologica Hispana and Antiquaria Hispanica. He is collaborating with the Instituto Arqueológico Alemán in Madrid on a project on Spanish-German relations in the field of archaeology and art history (eighteenth–twentieth centuries). In December 2011 he received the Winckelmann-Medaille Stadt Stendal (Winckelmann medal awarded by the city of Stendal).
