Olmedo Ramos, Jaime

Jaime Olmedo Ramos holds a degree in Spanish Languages and Literature and in Italian Languages and Literature and earned his PhD from Bologna University with a thesis directed by U. Eco, E. Raimondi, and A. Battistini and written at the Real Colegio de España in Bologna, of which he was dean. He is a tenured professor of Spanish Literature at the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and has received numerous awards. At the Instituto Cervantes he coordinated the Diccionario panhispánico de dudas (2005) for the Real Academia Española. He has also coordinated the Atlas Cronológico de la Historia de España (2009) and has been technical director of the Diccionario Biográfico Español (50 vols., 2009–13) at the Real Academia de la Historia, of which he is a corresponding member.
