Center for Iberian Historical Studies research seminar

The Center for Spain in America (CEEH’s sister entity in the US) and the Saint Louis University Center for Iberian Historical Studies co-organize a research seminar in Madrid.

Aimed at graduate students, independent researchers, and early-career professionals, this course offers an introduction to archives, libraries, and art collections in Madrid, Toledo, and El Escorial, showcasing the holdings of these institutions and the research being conducted within them.

The program, scheduled for the third week of June 2026, combines sessions at SLU’s Madrid campus with field visits led by experts in the management and use of these repositories, which are essential for studies on medieval and early modern Spain. Participants will have access to a wide range of primary sources, as well as the opportunity to reflect on the approach and methodology of their own research in discussions with specialists in this period working at universities and state cultural institutions.
