Awarded the scholarship for the master’s degree at the UAM
Mijaíl Oyarzabal Zabiyaka, a Philosophy graduate from the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid, has been awarded the new CEEH-funded scholarship to pursue the master’s program in Early Modern Art History: Classical Tradition and the Globalized World during the 2026–27 academic year. In his undergraduate thesis, Wittgenstein and the Horizon of Meaning—supervised by Ignacio Vicario Arjona—he examined the nature of meaning, delving into its practical dimension and its implications for, among other areas, aesthetic reflection and art theory. This focus on the material and pre-linguistic aspects of meaning as applied to art has drawn him toward the research perspectives found in “object studies.” His desire to understand the meaning and interpretation of artworks, combined with the need to approach them from a more material standpoint, has motivated him to undertake this master’s program. Currently, his interests center on classical reception studies, as well as the survival and transformation of artistic and cultural legacies from the Middle Ages onwards.
