Vittorio Orsina is awarded the CEEH fellowship at the Fondazione Roberto Longhi

His research project focuses on the tomb of Juan de Aragón (d. 1334), apostolic administrator of the diocese of Tarragona from 1328 to 1334, located in the presbytery of Tarragona Cathedral. Since its first mention in critical literature, the tomb has been linked to Italian sculpture, specifically the Neapolitan style of Tino di Camaino. Although there are differing opinions today regarding its authorship, which also includes French sculptors such as Pere de Guines, documented in Tarragona, the stylistic connections with Italian sculpture are undeniable. The research program at the Roberto Longhi Foundation explores two main areas: firstly, it attempts to reconstruct, as accurately as possible, the original appearance of the tomb, which has been altered; secondly, it aims to define its stylistic features and its influence on Catalan sculpture.
