Bonaventura Bassegoda is professor of Modern Art History at the Universitat Autònoma in Barcelona. He specializes in artistic literature of the Renaissance and Baroque and is the author of an anthology, Barroco en Europa (1983), and a critical edition of Francisco Pacheco’s treatise Arte de la pintura (1990). He has also dealt with aspects of the history of collecting in Spain, on which he has published El Escorial como museo.
