Cannadine, Sir David

Sir David Cannadine is President of the British Academy, Dodge Professor of History at Princeton University, and Visiting Professor at the University of Oxford. He is author of many books, including The Decline and Fall of the British Aristocracy (1990); Class in Britain (1998); Ornamentalism: How the British Saw Their Empire (2001); The Undivided Past: Humanity beyond Our Differences (2012), Victorious Century: The United Kingdom, 1800–1906 (2018); and biographies of Andrew W. Mellon, King George V, or Margaret Thatcher. Sir David is the Editor of the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, and a member of the Past & Present editorial board.
