Peter Cherry is lecturer in the Department of History of Art and Architecture, Trinity College Dublin. His main field of research is sixteenth- and seventeenth-century Spanish art, and has published different essays on art and patronage in Seville or Velázquez and his circle. As a result of his interest in the history of still-life and genre painting in Spain and Italy, he has been involved in a number of exhibitions in this area.
