Luis Alberto de Cuenca, a poet, essayist, and translator, holds a doctorate in Classical Studies from the Universidad Autónoma in Madrid and is a research fellow of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, where he has directed the Instituto de Filología and the department of publications. He has held the posts of director of the Biblioteca Nacional and secretary of state for culture. He has been editor in chief of the Arbor journal since 2012.
