Navarrete Prieto, Benito

Benito Navarrete Prieto, a tenured lecturer in Art History at the Universidad de Alcalá, completed his doctoral thesis under the guidance of Alfonso E. Pérez Sánchez, with whom he collaborated on many projects, including the study and catalogue raisonné of the Álbum Alcubierre (2009) and El joven Murillo (2009). His research – centred on Andalusian and Madrid painting, as well as Spanish drawing – has resulted in studies on Ignacio de Ries (2001) and Antonio del Castillo (2004), as well as many exhibitions, among them El papel del dibujo en España (2006) and I segni nel tempo. Dibujos españoles de los Uffizi (2016). He has been director of cultural infrastructure and heritage for Seville city council and scientific advisor to the Centro de Investigación Diego Velázquez of Fundación Focus-Abengoa.
