The CEEH supports the restoration of the Zurbarán paintings at Auckland Palace

Two of the paintings in the series painted by Francisco de Zurbarán – which have decorated the Long Dining Room of Auckland Palace in northern England for almost three centuries – will feature in upcoming monographic exhibitions on the Spanish master at the National Gallery in London, the Musée du Louvre in Paris and the Art Institute of Chicago between 2026 and 2027.

As the first venue for this show, the National Gallery has undertaken to restore Asher and Joseph in its workshops, establishing the criteria for a conservation campaign that will gradually be extended to the rest of the series in other professional studios chosen by the museum. This process will continue until the end of 2027 thanks to the sponsorship of the CEEH, which pursues its collaboration with The Auckland Project by promoting the study and dissemination of the Auckland Palace and Spanish Gallery collections through exhibitions, publications, research grants, documentaries and restoration initiatives like this one.
