Ceán Bermúdez now has a plaque in Madrid

On 28 May a plaque was put in place at Calle Pretil de los Consejos 7−9 in Madrid, the site of the building in which Juan Agustín Ceán Bermúdez lived and died. The ceremony brought to a close the international symposium ‘Ceán Bermúdez y la historiografía de las bellas artes’ organised jointly by the Biblioteca Nacional de España, the University of Murcia and CEEH, who will also publish the proceedings. Javier González Santos, a lecturer at Oviedo University, delivered a short address underlining Ceán’s important contribution to Spanish art history, which gained definite recognition in 2016 thanks to the exhibition Ceán Bermúdez. Historiador del arte y coleccionista ilustrado and the related catalogue. The ceremony was attended by the participants in the symposium as well as by Carlos Alberdi, director of the cabinet of the minister of culture and sport; Teresa Moreno Castillo, technical advisor at Madrid city council; and Manuel Martín Pascual, cultural director at the BNE.
